Some of us face a daily onslaught of criticisms. We are given strange glances by strangers when we don’t look “normal” to them. We are criticized by our bosses or co-workers. We are even criticized by our parents and other family members. With all of this constant criticism, it’s all too easy to be our harshest critics and put ourselves down.

Many years ago, I discovered a book titled The Golden Present by Sri Swami Satchidananda. It is a 365 day list of quotations from Sri Swami Satchidananda. I would like to provide one of my favorite quotes from Sri Swami Satchidananda that is for anyone who has an inner voice that puts himself/herself down.
Don’t ever, ever put yourself down. You are here for a purpose, and you are great in your place. You may not know what that purpose is; but no matter what you look like, what handicaps you might have, what size or what color you are, the fact that you are here is enough. God has something for you to do. Let us always live in that knowledge. Let us become humble instruments in the hands of that great Lord. That’s the best thing we can do. He will take care of all the rest.
I hope that this quote helps to bring happiness to you.
